Good Value – Kiln dried vs air dried (seasoned) firewood
The kiln drying process insures that the firewood has the perfect moisture content for optimum burning. The difference is very dramatic, the heat output is amazing when compared to regular firewood. The flames are also much brighter and those seemingly fewer hardwood logs burn 2-3 times longer than other firewood. The species used are Maple, Hickory and Birch. Mixed intentionally to provide a “perfect” fire. “Hot” kiln dried to 9%-16% moisture content.

Dryness is measured by lumber industry moisture meters, not guessed at by manufacturers who use “dry”, “seasoned”, or other subjective terms. The hardwood species used in our packages are among the highest heat output values available for wood fire. Maple is in the top 3 firewoods for heat BTU output with Hickory just behind it. We realize that because the product is kiln dried, often times many buyers think the premium kiln dried hardwood is too little for soo much and not a good value. However, just try it once and you’ll see that looks are often deceptive.

To say we have a price for each product, whereby, one price fits all, we just don’t have. here’s why. There are a few variables. The biggest variable is the cost of shipping. As you know, fuel costs aren’t what they used to be. Therefore, we need to know more about the shipping distance to your location or locations. Weight is another big issue when shipping. There are limitations and that determines the number of pallets that we can ship per truck load and that affects price as well. We can mix and match product pallets on a load and that will affect weight as well. 

We have to be very conscientious about being efficient because it affects the cost for all of us. We can create a price for FOB our dock. If you are in our area and can back haul that will be to your advantage. We would like for you to give us your previous sales history by the month, for the previous year. This is most helpful in our production planning schedule and can affect pricing to you. However, once we lock in a price for you we will honor that price for the term of the contract.
